Those approaching the model boat racing certainly feels the need to have a meeting with other pilots who have the same passion.

At the beginning of the 70 radio-controlled motor boating enthusiasts Ticino, eager to grapple with their own racing cars, enrolled in several clubs, in central Switzerland or Italy, but never find the necessary conviction to found the club house.

So it was that after many vicissitudes, in the distant 1983, those fans of radio controlled speedboat had the idea to form a club right, to carry on the passion they shared. It all began and the official recognition of the GIT, Group Idromodellistico Ticinese, occurred on 26 November, in Bern, where the Swiss Federation of Powerboat gave his assent to the newly formed club.

Began from that moment a great adventure sport that brought the 5 founders (Luciano Intraina, Titian Orsatti, Marco, John Crown and Piercarlo Bonardi) to face all the vicissitudes that the life of a club imposes. Body was given to the emblem of the club where the number 5 represents the number of founders, of which still 3 Active.

Since then, his pilots were able to compete at the highest levels, even world, and to obtain prestigious results as the 3. Omar Bonardi place at the World Championships 1988 Ravenna, the 6. Intraina place at the World Championships 1990 a Potsdam in Germania, and many Swiss championships won by members of the GIT.

In Ticino currently only GIT is affiliated to the Association Modelling Naval Switzerland (AMNS) which in turn is a member of the world organization of navimodellismo and water sports NAVIGA within which are discussed and issued regulations.

In Switzerland, there are still 22 clubs affiliated to AMNS where are represented all classes of models “operating” on Swiss lakes and for which we organize the Swiss league and the various selections for the World and European Championships.

…to the quarter of a century !!

It seems like yesterday when the 2003 the club celebrated 20 year career, but now the new goal, ie 30 year old, and if you please, is already behind. Well in Switzerland 3 club celebrated in 2008 their anniversaries of foundation, ie a club in Zurich and GIT as a club of Winterthur has made even 50 year old. The GIT, celebrated its anniversary of 30 years in the event of Caslano 19 and 20 October 2013.

…and life goes on

After the lavish celebrations 2013 life has taken its course and other targets and goals are there to reach. Definitely will be celebrated as befits. And then a nice "AUGURONI" at GIT for the next 50 year old .... !!
